Alphabeasts: G is for Gremlin

Here’s my new entry for Alphabeasts, G is for Gremlin. It’s one of those films I grew up with, and now my own children have seen it and are growing up with it. In fact, it’s on my daughter’s suggestion that I’ve created this ink art, of the vicious Stripe.

She, of course, didn’t want just a cute mogwai.

Alphabeasts: B is for Brundlefly

I missed the opening couple of rounds of Alphabeasts this time, so I’m gradually catching up with “A” and “B”. Today, I managed to get “B” out of the way, with an ink I’ve wanted to do for some time.

One of the films that has always inspired me (from a twisted direction at least) is the 80’s remake of The Fly, directed by David Cronenberg and starring Jeff Goldblum as the unfortunate scientist. New Ink Work: The Hard Night

Sometimes when I’m thinking of doing some art, I get a good idea going. Some concept, or some particular scene grabs me and I want to get art made of it.

Today was no different, as I’d had an idea for another ink work based on some old noir films. I thought that not only would it be fun to try, but there would also be the challenge of texture again like the Lorre/M piece.

So I started in working on it, and, actually, it wasn’t too bad. But, as with all things, the little issues started to bug me, and I started getting dragged into the old “you’re not good enough for this” thought pattern.… Read the rest
